Convicted child rapist and former prison officer John Maber has reportedly been attacked while serving his life sentence. Predator Awareness received information about the incident late last night. It’s understood he was attacked from behind and that Maber sustained injuries that were non-life-threatening.

Maber, once a senior officer at Pentonville Prison in London, was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2012 after pleading guilty to over 20 offences, including the rape of a baby girl, sexual assault of children, and distributing indecent images online.

The Original Case: A Catalogue of Horror

John Maber’s crimes shocked the nation. He led a double life, abusing children while working in the prison system. His offences included:

– Rape of a baby girl as young as four months old, with abuse continuing until she was five
– Sexual assault on children under 13, including blindfolding and conditioning them for abuse.

– Distribution and possession of indecent images, including footage of his own abuse shared with other paedophiles online

– Extreme pornography, including 134 images involving animals

The investigation began when New Zealand police intercepted an online conversation in which Maber offered to abuse a child live on webcam. UK authorities acted swiftly, arresting him at his home in Bushey, Hertfordshire. A search of his devices revealed a vast archive of abuse, including videos and chat logs with other offenders.

Judge Marie Catterson, who presided over the case, described Maber’s actions as “abhorrent behaviour of the utmost conceivable gravity” and sentenced him to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 20 years.

Aftermath and Ongoing Impact

Detective Inspector Damien Kennedy, who led the investigation, called Maber “a manipulative monster” and “the most prolific and depraved sex offender we have ever dealt with”. The case led to the arrest of 15 other individuals across the UK and safeguarded at least 30 children from further harm.

Police have continued to appeal for any additional victims to come forward, as investigations into Maber’s activities remain open.
