Dyfed-Powys Police have arrested a co-founder of Predator Awareness in connection with a post exposing a paedophile.
The arrest, carried out under the Online Safety Act, has sparked immediate concern among campaigners and supporters of the group. Zack remains in custody awaiting interview.
Predator Awareness, a grassroots advocacy initiative, has built its reputation on confronting institutional failures and shining a light on individuals who pose risks to children. The post at the centre of the arrest named and exposed a paedophile.
Tension Between Advocacy and Regulation
The arrest highlights growing tensions between online safety legislation and activist-led exposure campaigns. While the Online Safety Act was designed to regulate harmful content and protect vulnerable users, critics argue that its enforcement risks silencing whistleblowers and campaigners who challenge systemic failures.
Predator Awareness have voiced outrage, claiming the arrest undermines the group’s mission to protect children and hold predators accountable. “This is not just about Zack, It’s about whether truth-telling and safeguarding can survive under laws that prioritise censorship over protection.”
It’s not the first time Predator Awareness has been harassed by police. Both Tom and Zack have been constantly harassed this year. In a full statement predator awareness founder, Tom Blewitt, said:
“Today, Zack was arrested for exposing a paedophile who posed a real risk to our children. They attempted this in April, kept zack on remand for six months only for him to have all charges thrown out. The police are attempting to silence us all. This is not just about Zack, It’s about whether truth-telling and safeguarding can survive under laws that prioritise censorship over protection
We now believe this is targetted Harrassment of our team. Both Tom and Zack have been constantly harassed this year for doing what our police should be doing, protecting our kids.
We will stand with Zack and make sure he has the best legal team going. We will make no further comment at this time”.
