A man serving a 14-year sentence for multiple historic sexual offences has died in custody.
Roger Robinson died on 4 February 2026 while detained at Guernsey Prison, according to records published by the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman.
Robinson, aged 81, had been serving his sentence since October 2019 after being convicted of 10 sexual offences involving children and teenagers. The offences spanned several decades, dating back to the 1970s.
The Ombudsman’s website confirms that an investigation into his death is currently “in progress,” in line with standard procedure for deaths occurring in custody.
Robinson had been sentenced by Guernsey’s Royal Court to 14 years in prison, along with an extended supervision period. At the time of sentencing, the court noted aggravating factors including the young age of the victims and repeated offending.
As with all deaths in prison custody, the Ombudsman will conduct an independent investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding his death. A report will be published once the investigation concludes.
No further details about the cause of death have yet been released.
