Scott Mills has been dismissed from his role at BBC Radio 2 following allegations concerning his personal conduct, brining an end to his 28 year stay with the BBC.
The 53-year-old presenter, who had been hosting the station’s flagship breakfast programme, was abruptly taken off air last Tuesday while the BBC reviewed the situation. Sources cited in the report allege that Mills was informed over the weekend that his contract had been terminated.
Mills had only recently stepped into the high-profile breakfast slot in 2025, succeeding Zoe Ball, one of the station’s most recognisable voices. His move to the role marked a significant moment in his long broadcasting career, having previously built a strong following on BBC radio one.
In a brief statement, the BBC confirmed his departure but declined to provide further details of the allegations. A spokesperson said: “While we do not comment on matters relating to individuals, we can confirm Scott Mills is no longer contracted to work with the BBC.”
No official details have been released regarding the nature of the allegations, and Mills has not publicly responded to the claims at the time of writing.
The situation leaves uncertainty around the future of the Radio 2 breakfast show, one of the most listened-to programmes in UK radio. The BBC has yet to announce any replacement or interim presenter.
As the story develops, further clarification is expected regarding both the circumstances of Mills’ departure and the station’s plans moving forward.
