A Manchester man who subjected a 16‑year‑old girl to a six‑week campaign of rape, violence and terror has been jailed for nine‑and‑a‑half years — after a judge heard how the teenager was left with horrific injuries, blood‑soaked bedding and trauma no child should ever endure.

Callan Hennessey, 22, of Ferndene Road, Manchester, was sentenced at Manchester Crown Court after pleading guilty to assault, strangulation, creating indecent images and a further assault. He was also found guilty of rape following a trial.

The investigation began in April 2025 when a relative raised the alarm after the girl arrived at hospital with two black eyes, bleeding from her ear, a swollen jaw and multiple abrasions across her head and face. Officers soon uncovered the truth: Hennessey had been violently assaulting and raping her over several weeks, with her injuries finally drawing the attention of family members.

When police attended an address on 8 April 2025, they discovered bedsheets soaked in the victim’s blood, and a relative reported seeing blood on Hennessey himself shortly after the attack. The rape was found to have taken place several weeks before the April assault.

Hennessey will now be subject to an indefinite restraining order and placed on the sex offenders register for life.

The victim, who bravely supported the investigation throughout, provided detailed accounts of the abuse she suffered — allowing officers to build a case that ensured Hennessey could not escape justice.

“Firstly, I want to pay tribute to the victim in this case – this is something no‑one should ever have to go through and her bravery and resilience has been remarkable.
Hennessey violently attacked someone who is several years younger than him — a child — leaving her in a bloodied and terrified state. His vile actions, including rape and strangulation, now mean he is rightfully behind bars where he belongs.
