Britain has been left reeling after four members of the same family were dragged into court and charged with the murder of a newborn baby girl, a case so harrowing that detectives described the scene as one of the worst they have ever encountered. The tiny infant, known only as Baby S, was found dead inside a Sheffield property in Holywell Heights, Wincobank — a house neighbours say was a constant source of chaos, shouting and trouble — with multiple stab wounds inflicted within hours of her birth. 

Police raced to the address after urgent reports of a newborn in danger, but what they discovered behind that front door sent shockwaves through the force, leaving even seasoned officers visibly shaken. In court, the atmosphere turned ice‑cold as the accused were named:

Nina Horvathova, 37, each now facing charges of murder, causing or allowing the death of a child, and perverting the course of justice — allegations that point not only to a killing, but a deliberate attempt to hide the truth. 

A 15‑year‑old girl has also been charged with perverting the course of justice, adding yet another disturbing layer to the already grim picture. Forensic teams spent days combing through the property, removing bags of evidence as neighbours watched in horror, some saying they “knew something terrible was going to happen there one day — but never this.” Two additional women, aged 26 and 37, were arrested and later released on bail, though detectives insist the investigation is far from over.

Prosecutors say Baby S’s injuries were deliberate, violent and inflicted in a “closed environment,” meaning someone inside that house knows exactly what happened — and investigators believe it was not just one person, but several.
