Las Vegas Man Sentenced

LAS VEGAS — A registered sex offender has been sentenced to 121 months in federal prison for distributing and possessing a large collection of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) through a peer-to-peer file-sharing network.

U.S. District Judge Jennifer A. Dorsey handed down the sentence today. Following his prison term, Jimmy Franklin Dearman will serve 10 years of supervised release. He will also be required to register as a sex offender and keep his registration current under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.

According to court documents, Dearman possessed a substantial collection of CSAM stored across five digital devices. The material depicted children ranging in age from infants to those under 12 years old.

Investigators determined that Dearman made approximately 239 CSAM files available for download to other users of a peer-to-peer network and distributed at least 39 of those files. Authorities also found more than 1,600 images and 242 videos depicting the sexual abuse and exploitation of infants, toddlers, and young children.

“Exploitation of children is a heinous crime that leaves lasting trauma on the most vulnerable members of our society,” said First Assistant U.S. Attorney Sigal Chattah for the District of Nevada. “This sentence reflects our unwavering commitment to holding predators accountable and removing them from our communities.”

FBI Las Vegas Special Agent in Charge Christopher S. Delzotto said the agency remains committed to protecting children, supporting victims, and pursuing individuals who exploit minors.

“The sexual exploitation of children is a grave offense that impacts young and vulnerable members of communities across the nation, including in Nevada,” Delzotto said. “We are dedicated to rescuing and supporting victims, as well as investigating and holding perpetrators responsible for these atrocious acts.”

Delzotto added that the sentence demonstrates the FBI’s commitment to working with law enforcement partners to identify and prosecute individuals who target children.

Dearman pleaded guilty to one count of distribution of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.

The FBI investigated the case, which was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Afroza Yeasmin.
